Here's another shot, this is where the merchants and traders used to do business hundreds of years ago.

We had lunch at a nice farm at Hardanger, this is the building where we had lunch. See the grass roof?

Here's another view over the city of Bergen from the cable car ride.

Here is a view of the cable car coming up the mountain.

One evening we hiked up another of Bergen's mountains, Mt Floien, to see the sun setting. Another great view from here! I was tired after the hike though...

Mt Ulriken is the highest of Bergen's 7 mountains, so you could see many miles away over the sea and to the snow-covered mountains in the distance.

And here I am on my ride in the cable car! Good thing I'm not afraid of heights...

I did a bit of hiking, and here I am taking a rest and enjoying the view.

This is another part of the waterfront, I wanted to take a trip on one of those sailboats...

We got to see penguins too! They are much smaller than they look on TV!

This is Norway's flag, flying at the top of Mt Ulriken.

You can also take a funicular up Mt Floien. A funicular is like a train car that goes up and down a very steep track. Here it is coming up the mountain.

This is the fjord we visited, called Hardanger Fjord, it was a really beautiful place to visit. Fjords are really deep sort of canyons which fill up with water. These deep canyons were created by moving ice and glaciers millions of years ago during the ice age, and now they are filled with water and you can cruise around them! Some of them are almost a mile deep!

Pretty great view from in here!

This is me at Rosenkrantz Tower, which is part of the old Bergen castle. This tower was built around 1200.

There are MANY waterfalls all around the fjords, they come from all of the melting snow way in the mountains above!

Another day we took a bus trip to one of the fjords. This waterfall was a stop along the way. Very pretty, and fun because you could walk behind this waterfall!

Here I am at the restaurant in Hardanger.

Here I am taking a rest at Bryggen!

Another day we took a cable car up one of Bergen's mountains, Mt. Ulriken. This is part of the machinery that runs the cable car!

Another view of me resting after the hike.

Here is a seal at the aquarium!

I decided to check out one of the cannons at the castle...

Here is a wider shot from the harbor. That row of wooden buildings behind me is called Bryggen, most of them are 300 years old!

There was a great view from the other side of Mt Ulriken, and there were even patches of snow still!

I even got to meet a troll on Mt Floien! Trolls are a big part of Norwegian legend and mythology...supposedly there are many of them living in the forests and mountains...

Here is a view from behind the waterfall!

There are MANY waterfalls all around the fjords, they come from all of the melting snow way in the mountains above!

Here I am at the historic waterfront in Bergen.

This little stone church behind me is one of the oldest buildings in Bergen, it was built around the year 1100!

We visited the Bergen Aquarium, and they had these cute little monkeys called marmosets!

After all that sightseeing I was hungry, and I found this unusual McDonalds! See the arches in the windows??

Here are some of the interesting wooden alleyways behind the Bryggen buildings.

The last day in Norway we took a fjord cruise and got to see more beautiful scenery.

The farm we stopped at had a cave on the grounds as well! The owner took us in the cave and performed some music on the Hardanger fiddle by candlelight! It was a really unique experience! This is me in the cave.

The sunset was really pretty! This picture was taken about 8:45 in the evening, it didn't get completely dark until about 10:45 or 11:00pm. In the summer it's light almost all night because Norway is so far north
