Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park

The most beautiful corner of Wyoming holds the nation's first national park, Yellowstone. President Ulysses S. Grant officially signed Yellowstone into existence on March 1, 1872.  These 2.2 million acres of land were "set apart as a public park or pleasuring ground for the benefit and enjoyment of people."

Lewis and Clark were the first to explore the northern, Montana section of Yellowstone.  They heard reports of a a volcano to the south.  It made the earth shake and it sounded like thunder.  However, they chose not to investigate.

Years later in 1805, John Colter, and explore with Lewis and Clark's expedition, ventured into Yellowstone.  He is known as the first white man to have seen the national park.
Old Faithful Geyser
Wow!  My friend and I found HUGE paw prints!

Yellowstone Lake

Kaeston, 8, and Kamdin, 3, made sure that I saw all the sights!
Which way does the water flow when I stand in this exact spot?

Kamdin is holding on tight so I don't fall!
The Big and Little Falls

I don't think I want to swim in this hot geyser!
Kaeston's shoulder was a great place to sit so I could look out the window.
